Well, grab some plutonium and meet me in the car park at 1:30am. We’re going on an oxymoronic backward journey to a place of rose-coloured melancholy where optimistic glumness meets sunny pessimism. Introspective dancing shoes are a must, so pack your self-lacing Nike Air Mags and let’s get this unpainted stainless steel show on the road.

Right down to it. Past Time’s aural atmospherics help a popping groove shine, with pitched vocals and a ducking pad doing nothing to curtail the classic cohesion of 909 drum and sustained low drone. Reintroductions of scattered hats and drenched sonics serve as a fitting lead into its successor which undoubtedly follows suit nicely.

Sense of Self leans gracefully on the idea of flux. “Here, take these luscious pads and glittery synths before I steal them back and hand you an infectious bass-line and breakbeat you weren’t expecting.” Helped along by wonderfully metallic spoken word all the way to the capacitor’s 88 mph sweet spot, your arrival is marked by a slight downshift in tempo.

A harmonious progression from those before it, He’s Mine’s central rhythm is carried by the cosy rumbles of warm sub treatment, equilateral mid-bass plucks and a drone to round out a delectable low end. Resonance in perpetual motion, sparkly square waves propel the groove forward, landing you on the final stop of your trip.

The adequately titled Think is the gorgeous culmination of your trip down our collective memory lane, tying it into a nice little bow. Persistent chords, modulating speech and swelling ambient pads blend ever-so-elegantly with tremolo drums and a crisp kick, continuously growing in presence. An immense broken sequence that feels so right.
